Hello friends! I (Tracy) just returned from three weeks in Costa Rica and have much to share. This picture is a mosaic I tiled at Casa Adobe at the request of the family who is demonstrating sustainability, creativity and beauty. The broken pieces were rescued from the refuse and carefully organized. I worked alongside the family as well as Ricardo, a Nicaraguan migrant who seeks day labor work in Costa Rica. It was a beautiful and prophetic exercise that exemplifies much of what Seth and I hope to participate in through Restoration Village.
The primary reason I am spending so much time in Costa Rica this summer, though, is to work with the Fraternidad Tehológica Latinoamericana (Latin American Theological Fraternity). I am very honored to be helping to launch a Latin American network of artists, poets and musicians who are also committed to a holistic way of life, faith and community and who desire to resource communities and churches working to do the same. Yes, I am aware of my Gringa (from the US) status and indeed was the only artist from the US at the recent FTL international gathering. But as I have sought to build relationships and learn from my friends in Latin America and Latino/a communities in the US, I was invited into this exciting process! I am also excited to bring the very rich resources and relationships of the FTL to communities I work with, regardless of where they have come from!
The biggest culture shock coming back last night was arriving to 50 degree, rainy, foggy weather in Boston! But we have assurance the sun will come on the weekend. Seth has been great at giving regular updates on twitter so follow us if you are not already. We also got an incredible review this afternoon on God’s Politics we hope you will check out and share.
